Thank You for Everything: My Final Note from Beacon Advice

Spread the love

A personal announcement

From 1 November, I’ll be retiring from Beacon Advice.
This is a message I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and I want to share it properly — with warmth, honesty, and genuine gratitude.

Beacon Advice is in safe hands 🤝

Beacon Advice will be transferring to Mary Morgan, my brilliant colleague, based in the Lutterworth area of Leicestershire.
It feels only right that Mary takes the reins.
She’s been a faithful supporter of the Beacon Advice brand for over three years, and she works in the same way I always have: meeting people in the comfort of their own homes, with no corporate pressure, and offering simple, straightforward, reliable advice — a refreshing alternative to the more formal experience some people have with some solicitors.

If you need anything in future

If you’ve worked with me before and you’d like to review or amend anything in future, Mary will be your first point of contact. She’ll do her very best to help.
Just go to the contact page –

How Beacon Advice began 🏡

I founded Beacon Advice in February 2023, after spending the previous four years as a consultant for a national legal firm.
I believed I could offer something more personal — a service where clients weren’t passed from person to person, and where I could support you from start to finish:
  • A relaxed initial chat
  • Clear explanations in plain English
  • Becoming a client at your pace
  • And then the careful processing of your legal documents
Over the years, I’ve been privileged to welcome hundreds of clients. Every single one of you has mattered to me.

Thank you — genuinely 💛

Thank you for trusting me with something so important.
Many of you have become more than clients — you’ve become friends.
Your kindness, your stories, and your support have meant a great deal, and I’ll always be grateful.

If you’re based in West Sussex 📍

For those of you local to West Sussex (and the surrounding PO, SO and BN areas), I appreciate that Mary may not be on your doorstep.
Where appropriate, I’ll be sharing details of one or two trusted connections in the area, so you have options if you’d prefer someone closer to home.
You’ll find those references on the Contact page of the website.

A final reminder: estate planning really matters 🧾

If there’s one message I’d love to leave you with, it’s this:
Estate planning is important — and it’s rarely something we wish we’d left later.
All too often, people delay making a Will, putting Lasting Powers of Attorney in place, or thinking about funeral wishes — until a problem strikes.
In my own life, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I’ve been greatly reassured knowing that my Will, my Lasting Powers of Attorney, and my funeral plan were already in place.
It’s given me enormous relief.
Those three fundamentals being sorted has taken away so much uncertainty for me and for my family.

It isn’t “tempting fate”

And if you’re wondering whether doing this is “tempting fate”, I’ll say this gently but clearly:
It’s never too early to put your documents in place — and it isn’t tempting fate. It’s taking care of the people you love. ❤️

With heartfelt thanks 🙏

From me to you — thank you again for your trust, your custom, and your friendship.
Wishing you and your family all the very best,
Andrew Upton
Founder, Beacon Advice
